You were given this link because we know (or suspect) you like blues and maybe you have the time or talent to help with this upcoming endeavor.

Puddler’s Hall gave us their venue for free for the “Welcome Back” series of four swing socials. Because we didn’t have to pay for the floor, we were able to hire two bands and pay the musicians at or above their asking rate. We had fun, the bands had fun, and Puddler’s loved it.

They offered us the floor for more socials.

December and January could be really hairy with COVID and flu. For that reason, we may have mandatory masking for certain or all social dates. When life hands you lemons… So, we are currently planning to do a series of four social dances focusing on early blues, jump, jump blues with a healthy mix of slower swing.

Lessons

The one-hour lessons before each social will start with basic blues step followed by one or two moves that will be unique each week. There will likely be a longer workshop towards the end of the 2-month social series (1st and 3rd Wednesday for 2 months). We will also have dates where Cassidy’s house can be used by instructors who want to give private or small group lessons, if that becomes a thing.

We are already talking with a swing band about making a more bluesy set for one of the social dances (probably the last one).

Volunteer

The emphasis of the volunteers helping with the Milwaukee Stomp blog and event calendar is to attract more dancers to the greater dance scene and to keep current dancers informed on where to dance and learn. The blues music scene in Milwaukee is big. The blues dance scene is basically null.

There is a significant opportunity to expand and enrich our dance community.
